Seed Global Health strengthens health education and delivery in places facing extreme shortages of health professionals by working with partner countries to meet their long-term health care human resource needs. Seed’s flagship program, the Global Health Service Partnership (GHSP), is a joint initiative with the U.S. Peace Corps, the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and local academic partners. Supported by MGH Global Health, Seed places U.S. doctors and nurses to work alongside local faculty to educate and mentor the next generation of medical and nursing professionals in Liberia, Malawi, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The Nursing Leadership Development Program, in partnership with Discovery Health South Africa, is a 10-day nursing leadership program which includes a focus on management competencies, job shadowing, clinical observations and a simulation lab.
The Lira School of Nursing and Midwifery at Lira University works with MGH Global Nursing to provide need-based academic scholarships and support local students in northern Uganda to complete their nursing education.
The Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) Nursing Partnership provides technical assistance and mentorship to leadership and faculty in the nursing department. MGH Global Nursing also provides scholarships for students pursuing Master in Nursing Science degrees.
The Global Nursing Caucus advances the role of nurses in global health by engaging and connecting nurses worldwide to create a network for sharing innovative approaches to global health issues. Mobilizing partnerships and resources to facilitate nurses’ contributions, creating an information resource center, and promoting policies that strengthen the role of nurses in global health, the Global Nursing Caucus is a dynamic advocate for the essential contribution of nursing in improving the health of populations worldwide.
